Members of the Debian community have constantly been approached by academic researches to fill in surveys and be interviewed. To save the members of Debian from survey-fatigue and interview-fatigue, this talk aims to teach the audience how to choose which survey and interview that are worth responding and how to respond them smartly. This talk will start from giving an update on current FLOSS academic research, talking about the problems with a quantitative-dominated research field, and what could be done to make it better and what roles can Debian members play in this.
