Alternative developer's interface to APT: libapt-front.
This paper describes libapt-front, a new API for accessing APT. The
library is designed to be both easy to use and powerful. While its
primary target language is C++, we support binding efforts for other
languages, namely python and ruby (and eventually others). The main
part of the paper is concerned with overall library organisation and
philosophy. It also contains a short summary on our development
methodology, few usage examples and our plans for the future.
After the talk, interested parties are invited to a small workshop
where we will demonstrate how to write a libapt-front based
application from the ground up.
Eventually, we will be happy to hold a BoF about the library, mainly
for people who would be interested to join our effort, to discuss the
current status, plans for the future and so on.
